Reveal Forum - March 2022

Reveal Forum - March 2022

The first Reveal Forum of the year was held virtually on Tuesday, 29 March 2022. The Reveal Forum is a community event that takes place several times a year, which includes government partners, implementers and developers from ~ 28 organizations who are currently implementing Reveal, or are tracking the roadmap and are interested in using Reveal to improve the impact of health campaigns.

The objectives of the Reveal Forum are to provide community members with the opportunity to:

  1. give an update on any new features that have been developed, or are in the process of being developed, and what we as community members can expect as a result;

  2. share valuable lessons learnt through new or ongoing implementations, and why these are important in the context of operationalizing and scaling Reveal; and

  3. based on implementation experiences, provide a view on what is most needed, technically or otherwise, to better operationalize and scale Reveal in the future.

The goal of the Reveal Forum is to bring community members together so that all have a common understanding of the current and possible future state of Reveal; to understand who is doing what, where and how; and ultimately, to learn from and support each other in a collective ambition to scale and sustain the Reveal platform to help health and other campaigns achieve their intended impact.

The recent Reveal Forum was attended by approximately 20 community members. Anna Winters, the Reveal Lead, opened the Reveal Forum by providing participants with an overview of the goal and objectives of the Reveal Forum, along with an update on some additional community building efforts, as well as primary roadmap aims and accomplishments.

Livashan Soobramoney, Technical Product Manager, gave participants an overview of the roadmap, and what’s been, or is in the process of being developed, including insight into what these mean for the community and their implementations. In late 2021 and 2022 to present, a new base service was created which offers greater ease for scale, and tracking of health intervention delivery over time. This work has taken significant effort, but remained on track and is set to finalize in April 2022.

One use case was highlighted during the forum - this was specific to recent proof of concept work to support reaching zero dose children with childhood vaccinations -- the primary summary of this use case was that geospatial technology through Reveal provided the opportunity to reach nearly 100% of zero dose children. The final presenter, Ms. Maguette Ndong from Digital Square shared the Global Maturity Matrix with listeners, and proceeded to also share how Reveal measures against this matrix model. Attendees were then offered the opportunity to share their response and input through a menti survey. Primary themes included improvement in scalability, configurability, training videos, integration with DHIS2. Many of these themes were similar to the 2023 roadmap shared earlier in the meeting.

Next steps include sharing of the Reveal roadmap with the community and a further survey tool to assist in prioritization of the roadmap aims. This is planned for April/May of 2022 to continue to build the trajectory both of the roadmap and funding efforts.
